I’m Harvey Milk: The Life Story of Harvey Milk

Written by Mike Broemmel, *I’m Harvey Milk* tells the story of the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in California. The play stars Ben Beasley as Harvey Milk. The production is directed by Greg West. Called "the most famous and most significant openly LGBT+ official ever elected in the United States,” Harvey Milk was described as a “visionary (who) imagined a righteous world inside his head and then he set about to create it for real, for all of us." Milk battled against anti-gay initiatives and was elected San Francisco city supervisor in 1977, sponsoring bills banning discrimination in public accommodations, housing, and employment on the basis of sexual orientation. Milk was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009.
